The Afro-American Cultural Center has an immediate opening for a full-time
Cultural and Outreach Education Programs Manager.

Charlotte, North Carolina’s Afro-American Cultural Center (AACC), currently housed in a historic church, exists to present, preserve and promote African American art, culture and history for the education and enlightenment of all. 

Founded in 1974, the Afro-American Cultural Center is well-positioned for the future. A new $18 million headquarters is currently under construction. This state-of-the-art building is a key component in the first phase of the city’s Cultural Arts Facilities Master Plan to be located in the heart of Uptown Charlotte. The Center will be renamed the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts and Culture when it opens its doors in the fall of 2009. 

Description
The Afro-American Cultural Center has an immediate opening for a full-time Cultural and Outreach Education Programs Manager. 

Responsibilities:
The Cultural Education and Programs Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, managing and evaluating cultural and outreach education programs for a full range of curriculum-based art educational services for school children (pre-K-12), families and professional artists.  These programs (on and off-site) provide community workshops, lecture/demonstrations and teaching artists to various school and community groups.  These programs are intended to address state and national learning standards. 

The Cultural Education and Programs Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations and Public Programs.  In addition, the position collaborates with the Director of Development, President/CEO office, site coordinators, and other AACC personnel.
