CHARLOTTE -- The Afro-American Cultural Center hosted the unveiling of the U.S. postal service's latest stamp.

Jazz legend Ella Fitzgerald, known as the "first lady of song," is on the 30th black heritage commemorative stamp.

"She is one of America's greatest songstresses, and it really doesn't matter if she's African-American or whatever,” said Afro-American Cultural Center president and CEO G. Deon Bradley. “People will be interested in that because she was an unbelievably talented singer; and so it's important that we call attention to those types of things and show that we should appreciate everybody's talents."

Coinciding with the unveiling of the new stamp, the Afro-American Cultural Center also opened two new art exhibits on jazz.
