                  Founders Society Campaign


Your support of the Founders Society Campaign will ensure the long-term success and financial sustainability of the Gantt Center. Contributions and pledges of support will be used in many ways including:

  • Staging of excellent fine art exhibitions and related programming activities

  • Development of innovative arts and education programs for school-aged children

  • Development of a year-round arts, culture and history lecture/seminar series

  • Development of collaborative exhibitions and academic exchanges with regional and national museums and arts organizations

  • Summer camps, art classes and enrichment programs for public school children

  • Support for theater productions, film presentations and educational workshops

When the Gantt Center opens in the fall of 2009 our visitors and audiences will experience excellence in exhibitions, theater and musical productions, poetry readings and a broad range of local, regional and national collaborations focused on African-American art, history and culture. The Gantt Center's programming and exhibitions will be presented by curators, museum professionals, art scholars and artists from throughout the region, state and country. Commitments have been secured from the following arts organizations to participate in Gantt Center programming:

  • University of Maryland David Driskell Center for the Study of Visual Arts and Culture - College Park, MD

FARM WOMAN

This is a “Special” offer regarding a new work of art that Jonathan Green has created to support the fund raising efforts of the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts and Culture. The image, titled “Farm Woman” is currently being produced by Master Printmakers Joseph Kleineman and Maureen Turci at Mojo Portfolio, Union City, New Jersey. Kleineman and Turci have produced many of Romare Bearden’s, Elizabeth Catlett’s and Jacob Lawrence’s most popular prints.

Jonathan Green will donate 75 of the 100 limited edition lithographs to the Gantt Center’s Founders Society Campaign. The image will be released in mid to late October. We would like to offer this wonderful image to you at the pre-release price of $3,500. A deposit of $1,000 is required for each reserved print. Only 25 of the prints will be made available at the pre-release price. The remaining 50 images will be priced at $4,500 each. The size of the image will be 22” X 30” with white margins on all sides. Each of the prints will be signed and numbered by the artist.
