Guided Tours

Do you have a school group, community organization, sorority, church or club whose members would enjoy a guided tour at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture? We offer guided and self-guided tours of our exhibitions throughout the year. Guided tours require a minimum of 10 participants, are led by volunteer museum docents and last one hour. Self-guided groups of 10 or more are advised to contact Guest Services in advance to assure that there is space available. Schedule a group tour by contacting Guest Services at (704) 547-3700. Please note, all guided tours should be scheduled two-weeks in advance and if your group arrives more than 15 minutes late, they will have to forgo a docent and do a self-guided tour.
School Tours
Guided tours are available to groups of elementary, middle and high school students Tuesdays through Fridays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. All school tours, guided or self-guided, must be scheduled with Guest Services. Guided tours must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.
Admission
Group admission (for groups of 10 or more): $5.00 per person
School/after school/camp group admission (groups of 10 or more): $5.00 per student, chaperone or parent
Group tour rates are based on 10 or more persons when you make your reservation. If your group is less than 10 on the day of your visit you will be charged the regular admission rate per person.

For Teachers and Chaperones
Group Size
A guided tour can accommodate 10 to 30 students, unless otherwise noted. It is required that school groups have one (1) adult (teacher/chaperone) for every 10 students. Groups of very young and/or special needs children must provide a smaller student to chaperone ratio.
Arrival Time
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled tour. If your group arrives more than 15 minutes after the scheduled time, we will be unable to provide a docent for your tour. Instead, your tour will be self-guided.
